Dr. Gordon Porter – Director of Inclusion Canada

Dr. Porter has been invited by PACE to speak to families about how to best communicate with administration and teachers in the education system to achieve the best possible learning environment for our children.  Take hold of his inspirational message of why Education needs our children to be a fully inclusive environment for all students and teachers.  Hear his research-based findings and you are sure to feel ready to take on a new school year with optimism and confidence! Plus, it’s a free supper!

Monthly Meeting

Join us for our regular monthly meeting.  We always meet on the second Monday of every month, unless it is a stat holiday, then it is the third Monday.  These are the backbone of our support to families.  This is where you find out what events are coming up and also have a say in what future events we will be creating.  Start time is at 7:00 PM and begin with some networking with other families.  They are held upstairs in the Meadow Lake Hospital across from Public Health.  Childcare is often provided and the coffee is sure to be strong.  See you there.

MLBEX Awards

PACE has been nominated as Volunteer Organization of the Year at the Meadow Lake Business Excellence Awards.  Yay!!!  Wish us luck.

Friend Blend Kick Off

Let the fun begin.  Join the Friend Blend Kick Off event with some exciting bowling and pizza.  Mentors are encouraged to show up at 5:00 PM for an orientation and families come at 5:30 PM.  This is a chance to meet up with mentors and get to know one another.  Both families and mentors should come with their calendars so that the next mentorship date can be set.  Mentors and families will now begin setting up their own meeting schedules.  If you need assistance, call Alicia LeHoux at Positively Parenting, 306-236-4804.

Friend Blend Volunteer Recruitment

PACE will be making a short presentation about who we are and what we do.  We will be asking junior high students to consider volunteering for our organization, but specifically for Friend Blend.  Friend Blend is a peer mentoring opportunity where individuals with exceptionalities are paired with students who can play a positive role for them.  These may include healthy social relations, good decision-making, and fun recreational activities.  This is the continuation of a research project that PACE participated in 2013-14 with Dr. Janet McCabe that studied the positive effects of peer mentor relationships.
